Police Kill One Kidnapper In Plateau, Recover Gun

ASP Ubah said: “On August 28, 2021, at about 0015hrs, the Plateau State Command received a distress call that three yet to be identified gunmen invaded a compound in Rantya in an attempt to kidnap their target or residents of the compound.

The Plateau State Police Command yesterday said it killed one kidnapper and recovered one AK 47 and 12 rounds of live 7.62X39mm caliber of ammunition.

According to the spokesman for the Command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, the kidnapper was neutralised during a gun battle with the police at the Rantya community of Jos South LGA of the state while attempting to invade a compound.

ASP Ubah said: “On August 28, 2021, at about 0015hrs, the Plateau State Command received a distress call that three yet to be identified gunmen invaded a compound in Rantya in an attempt to kidnap their target or residents of the compound.

“On receipt of the information, police operatives attached to Rantya Division were swiftly mobilised to the scene.

“On sighting the team, the hoodlums engaged them in a fierce gun duel where one of the hoodlums was neutralised while others fled with various degrees of bullets wounds. Exhibits recovered from the deceased include one (1) AK 47 rifle and twelve (12) rounds of live 7.62X39mm calibre of ammunition,” he added.

The command said an investigation had commenced and efforts were being intensified to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate, assuring residents of the safety of their lives and properties.

The command however urged members of the public to remain calm and always assist the police with useful information to flush out criminal elements from the State.
