Manchester United hint at Amad Diallo debut date sooner rather than later.
Amad Diallo could make his Manchester United debut within a month after his impressive performances in training.
Diallo, 18, completed his £37million transfer from Atalanta two weeks ago and arrived in Manchester last week for his first training sessions at United’s Carrington training complex.
Even though the Ivory Coast winger only made two substitute appearances for Atalanta this season prior to joining United, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested Diallo was likely to make the first-team squad sooner rather than later.
“Very good,” Solskjaer said of Diallo. “He can handle the ball, he’s enjoyed training, he makes a difference in training, which is quite remarkable at his age.
There’s some adjustment to settle into the hustle and bustle and the physical part of the Premier League but I can’t see it being too long until he’s in the squad.
“It might be quicker than [four or five weeks], who knows? He’s definitely settled down well, the players have taken to him, he’s a very good character, a very polite, smiley boy who works really hard.
Diallo’s arrival has bolstered an attack that meant there was no room for Daniel James or Jesse Lingard in Sunday’s squad at Liverpool. Lingard, 28, is wanted by Sheffield United on loan this month and has not played in the league all season but Solskjaer refused to give a specific update on his future.
“I don’t want to go into individuals but we can probably allow one or two more to go out,” Solsjaer added. “But one of the strengths we have is we have a deep squad, strength in depth. We don’t want to give our advantage away by easing off on our players.
“So I can’t really give you a better answer than that.”
